Growing up I raced BMX, ran Cross Country and Track, Played Softball, Rowed, and started Crossfit at age 15. I went to the University of Texas to compete on their rowing team for 5 years, earning my degree in Applied Movement Science and Master in Sports Management. During my time as an athlete at Texas, we won 2 National Championships, and 4 Big 12 Championships. As well as the Directors Cup 2 years in a row being the best athletic department in the country. Nothing I've accomplished in my life has come easy. While I was in college I had 4 knee surgeries on my ACL and a meniscus transplant. Not to mention a plethera of other setbacks from my childhood that have shaped me into the person and character I am today. I've been coaching strength and conditioning and rowing for a few years now. Most recently I worked with the Texas Softball team who played in the CWS championship series this past year. Currently, I am the Assistant Rowing Coach at the University of North Carolina.
I had many "turning points" growing up, many coaches didn't believe in me, treated me poorly, and often overlooked me. This always fueled me to come back stronger and ultimately led me on the path I am today. The most recent "Turning Point" was with my college coach. If he ever believed in me he never showed it. He used me and treated me like a number that could be replaced. I've always known I wanted to be a coach since I was young, but this is when I vowed to never coach like him. I was determined to make coaching my path to ensure any athlete who came to row for me would not be treated like that. To "prove" you can treat people like humans and still get the result you want. Looking back I thank him for the hard times I was put through because it gave me perspective on what matters. Ultimately people won't remember your name or what you look like, but what they will remember is how you made them feel. I want to help people reach their goals, grow as individuals, and become the best version of themselves. I am motivated by hardships and disappointment. Determination and perseverance are what continues to push me to be a better version of myself than I was the day before.
My passion is to serve those who want to be the best version of themselves. My purpose is to impact the lives around me and lead others in a way that makes them feel empowered to make change.
